Audiobook Creation Exchange
We’ve all heard of Amazon.com, but did you know they had their own audiobook publishing company called Audible.com? If you’re into audiobooks, they’re definitely worth checking out. What’s even more interesting, is what they’ve created under that: ACX (Audiobook Creation Exchange).
This is where publishers and producers meet. In other words, the people who own the rights to books can go to ACX to find narrators and producers to turn a book into an audiobook. As a narrator, this is where I spend the bulk of my time when I’m in the mood to create an audiobook. The folks at ACX are super nice and have their act together. The site is easy to navigate and the audition process is simple and fun. I’m uploading a recent book right now to their site, for the right’s holder to approve before it goes to Audible.com. I won’t lie, its fun to see my name on their website, as a narrator for a book 😉
I mention all this because I know many of you have only heard of these things from talking to me, and I thought it would be nice to get the word out to the rest of you with whom I’ve not spoken. Also, there are a few of you who have indicated an interest in being a narrator, so here’s just a bit of info to point you in a good direction.
So whether you want to release your inner story-teller… OR, if you’re a writer who wants their book put into audiobook format but just don’t want to do that yourself… go to ACX.com and take a look around.
Sidenote: This is the book I just finished. It won’t be available for a few weeks – I’ll let you know when it is, in case you’re interested. Its a pretty good beginner’s guide to meditation.
