Music stand cozy
A few weeks ago I attended a great class on audiobooks, which ended up with me cutting my first audiobook demo (see “Demos” to the right).
When I was in their booth recording, I noticed that their metal music stand had a kind of rubber mat just behind where my script sat. I imagined such a device was used in order to absorb my voice, instead of it being reflected back at my by the stand. I was correct.
However, when I came back to my home studio, I couldn’t find anything online that matched what I saw at Buzzy’s. So, I contacted Denise Chamberlain and lo and behold, she actually makes “cozys” for music stands, for this very purpose!
We chatted about material and color, and today I received my red velvet cozy and not only can I read in the booth without worrying about the sound, I feel absolutely decadent! If you need one of these items, contact Denise right away.
Heather, thanks for sharing – what a great idea! I’m using a towel right now, this is so much better. I think I’ll be in touch with Denise…
I know I should have thought of a towel… but I was so single-minded about the whole deal! Honestly, this cozy is really great – it just slides over the top and boom, you have a little glove for your stand. AND, I may have her make one with my logo on it.
Let me know if you get one!
